Challenge…Meet Opportunity

It’s a quiet that you can almost feel.

The still quiet of early morning. No sounds of traffic.

Unusual for a Wednesday.

But the circumstances this morning ARE unusual.

Last night several inches of snow feel in the south…

What’s the big deal? It’s just snow, right?

Well, not in the South. Here, snow is the deal. We don’t have snowplows, salt, or sand.

We rely on one thing: the Southern warmth to do its magic and melt it all away.

And today…high temp might get to 32F…

And so we just wait.

Frustrating? No doubt. The normal Wednesday routine is gone. There is going to be frustration today as the regular routine is gone.

At the same time, it’s an opportunity.

Opportunity to be present in the experience of life. To remember the joy of a 12 year old boy in a snowball fight with his older brothers. The experience the rush of coming back inside a warm house after being out in the cold.

I can wallow in frustration that there is extra chaos today, or I can explore the new opportunity I have for connection.

It’s a choice.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Dr Wayne Dyer.

Another phrase I learned really can apply here…

When life presents its challenges, I say thank and always look for the opportunity.

Today I have opportunity to strengthen my relationships, to connect with friends and family. All because there is snow on the ground outside.

What opportunity do you have today from one of life’s challenges?

For me, the weather has given me a unique opportunity where I live.

And I’m saying thank you.
